Our client, DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of Ann Arbor, recently moved to a much larger space on Stadium Blvd. The new showroom has more than 4 times the square footage than their previous location, and features 4 full kitchen and 6 bathroom displays.

DreamMaker Customer Preview

We were happy to join the DreamMaker team this week as they held a customer preview night Wednesday, and their official Grand Opening Thursday. On Wednesday, DreamMaker treated their customers to delicious food and beverages catered by Katherine’s, as they got a first-hand look at the completed showroom. The bathtub with a stereo built-in is a must-see! The sound is incredible!

Ribbon-cutting with Chamber of Commerce

The Grand Opening was the official public celebration, and attendees had a chance to win a bathroom makeover worth up to $5,000, as well as other fantastic prizes. We joined DreamMaker for the ribbon cutting ceremony with the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti Chamber of Commerce. It was a long day (and week!) for the DreamMaker team, but well worth the effort.

Designing Automotive Components to Meet EMC Requirements (8:30 am – 10:30 am) This presentation condenses the contents and conclusions from a 2- day circuit board layout short course into a 2-hour presentation. The pace is fast, but references are provided for those who want to delve into these topics in greater detail. Automotive System-Level Grounding and Shielding (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) Using EMC-compliant components does not guarantee that a vehicle will not be susceptible to electromagnetic interference. Proper design at the system level is just as important as proper design at the component level; however many of the concepts are the same. This presentation reviews effective design strategies for ensuring that vehicles meet system-level EMC requirements. Buffet Lunch: 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Conducting an Effective EMC Design Review (1:00 pm – 2:00 pm) Often an EMC engineer doesn’t see a board layout until many critical decisions have been made. When reviewing a complex product design, it is important for an EMC engineer to quickly identify the components, nets and connections that deserve scrutiny. This presentation provides an overview of what to look for and how to find it, as well as tips for convincing design engineers that the recommended changes are worth the cost/effort involved. EMC Troubleshooting(2:00 pm – 3:00 pm) Perhaps your product did not go through an EMC design review; perhaps recommended changes weren’t implemented; or perhaps something crucial was missed during the review. For whatever reason, most EMC engineers often find themselves in the position of trying to fix products that have reached the testing stage of their development and are not meeting all the EMC requirements. This presentation describes steps that can be taken to systematically identify the source, coupling path and/or victim associated with any given EMC test failure, as well as options that may be available for fixing problems late in the development cycle. Computer Modeling Tools for EMC Engineers (3:30 pm – 4:30 pm) There are no computer modeling tools that can replace the need for EMC design reviews and validation tests, and modeling tools are not particularly helpful for EMC troubleshooting. Nevertheless, there are a few software tools that can be a tremendous asset to EMC engineers. This session reviews the current state of computer modeling tools including their costs and capabilities. Students completing this session will be aware of the tools available to them and learn to make good decisions regarding the tools that are appropriate for their needs. Reception: 4:30 pm – 5:00 pm
